LIFESKILLS: WORK

My kids enjoyed the summer but one thing they didn’t really like about it was having to work for their allowance. During the schoolyear we give them a weekly allowance, but during the summer, they need to earn it by doing chores in the house.

Working is a lifeskill that our kids need to learn. Natural talent or intelligence is not enough to achieve what they want. They need to realize that they have to work hard at it.

Our kids need to learn that hard work bears fruit, while laziness leads to poverty.

Proverbs 10:4 Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.
Proverbs 12:11 He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment.
Proverbs 14: 23 All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

So as much as we want them to enjoy their childhood and be comfortable, there is great value in teaching them how to work.
